I created this painting over 2 years ago for WoW's Patch 3.3 "Fall of the Lich King."

If you have the time good sir, would you mind tellin' a novice like myself and the rest of the world, just how long does it take for you to make something such as this ? : ) And i dont want to hear

Well, we have a rather inundating process we go through, in terms of feedback from various stake holders whenever we start a painting.

We go through a thumbnail phase which can be days to weeks long before an idea is decided upon. Then we go through the drawing stage, which usually takes a day or 2. Then we wait for feedback. After it's approved we do a color rough. Send that off and wait for approval. When we get it, then we commence painting, which usually takes 5-6 work days. When it's done, we send it off for approval, and hopefully it's done.

Now-a-days, we cascade projects so we get more done, but measuring how long something takes to complete is a fools errand because it's unpredictable and can at times be exhaustive, and at other times, super quick.

If I just worked through, without the feedback process, maybe a week and half of work time. But because it's never that simple, most projects are measured in weeks, as in around 3, by the time it's done. We deal with a lot of changes throughout the process which can make it so that even a simple piece can sometimes take a lot longer than it would seem.

This one had a lot of feedback, and I did it years ago, but I think it was 3 weeks of work time.

Man I did not expect such an in depth and detailed answere :), and I'm just thrilled that you took the time to give it. I'm actually studying games and game grafics at the moment, so I will most surely take your wisdom to heart. And I know there's a lot of other people out there whom will do the same.

Thanks again good sir!

When this patch hit, I was a weepy, weepy player.

Loved WC3, LOOOVED playing as the scourge, and when it was finally time to defeat Arthas in WoW I was just like....".....;___; NUU. I don't WANNA!"
